  1. Cut the green beans into 1 inch pieces. Now boil the beans in hot water for 6-8 mins, till just about tender. Drain.
  2. Meanwhile, chop the bell pepper into strips.
  3. In a non-stick pan, heat the oil. Turn the flame to low, and add in the garlic. Gently stir it, and allow it to change its colour. This should take a minute.
  4. Now add in the boiled beans, and the red bell pepper.  Turn up the heat to medium, and fry these for 2 mins.
  5. Add in the soya sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Keep frying.
  6. Next, add the brown sugar and the Chinese spice. Stir everything together.
  7. If required, add 1-2 tbsp of oil for a more stir-fry effect.
  8. Once the beans have a lovely fried taste (instead of boiled), your dish is ready to be served!
  9. TIP 1: Since you are using soya sauce, go light on the salt.
  10. TIP 2: You don't have to boil the beans. Feel free to fry them directly. However, they will probably take longer to cook and you will need more oil.
